New York Rangers Defenceman Adam Fox Has Injury

Defenceman Adam Fox of the New York Rangers will miss some time with an injury. He took a knee-on-knee hit Thursday evening against Sebastian Aho of the Carolina Hurricanes. Furthermore, Fox is expected to miss between two and four weeks with the injury. The team placed him on long-term injury reserve, which will allow them additional flexibility in replacing him in the lineup.

Rangers Star Defenceman Adam Fox Out Two-To-Four Weeks With Injury

The injury for Adam Fox will slow the stud defenceman down. Fox is up to his usual tricks this season, with 11 points already through just ten games. Moreover, this season marks the fifth of his career. With 295 career regular season games under his belt, he carries a remarkable PPG of 0.834. In addition, he is simply regarded as one of the top defencemen in the whole league. He’s finished first, second, and fifth in Norris voting throughout his career. Oh, and the other season he was fourth in Calder voting.

What Does the Adam Fox Injury Mean to the Rangers

This is a blow to the New York Rangers, but their stingy goaltending may be able to support the club. Fox primarily does his offensive damage on the power play, recording nine of his 11 points on the man advantage. Making up a pairing with Ryan Lindgren, the duo has not been that great five-on-five. So, in terms of even-strength matchups, the team should manage. However, Fox’s impact will be felt in leading the power play unit from the backend. The former Harvard student’s smarts will be missed. To fill in, taking advantage of the added flexibility with cap space, the Rangers have called up defenceman Connor Mackey. The 27-year-old Mackey has been playing well with the Hartford Wolf Pack thus far and deserves the call-up.
