The New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today several adds to his hockey operations staff. As an organization they have been busy, which includes the recent contract extension to Alexis Lafreniere. For now, let’s take a look at the recent Rangers front office changes.
New York Rangers Front Office Changes
Ryane Clowe
The first Rangers front office change involves a former player. Ryane Clowe played for 10 seasons in the NHL and with the New York Rangers in the 2012-13 season. He is in the third season with the organization in the Hockey Ops Advisor since 2022. They have promoted Ryan to Co-Senior Advisor to the President and General Manager. Clowe also served as an assistant coach of the New Jersey Devils during the 2016-18 seasons and the head coach of Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL in the 2018-19 campaign.
Angela Ruggiero
Angela Ruggiero is a four time Olympic medalist and was inducted into both the Hockey Hall of Fame and US Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015. They inducted Ruggiero into IIHF Hall Of Fame in 2017. She skated for 15-plus years with the US Women’s National Team and claimed the first-ever gold medal in 1998. Angela won three other Olympics medals,silver in 2002 and bronze in 2006. They hired Ruggiero as Hockey Operations Advisor.
Christian Hmura
Christian Hmura will be the new Skills and Performance Development Coach replacing Mark Ciaccio. Hmura spent six seasons as Hockey Director and Director of Player Development with the Chicago Mission, a Tier 1 AAA Youth Hockey Club. Christian also was a Private Professional Development Coach, were he worked with over 70-plus NHL players in private and small groups. In addition, he was a scout for Quebec Major Hockey League’s Moncton Wildcats from 2013 to 2016.
Mark Ciacco
Mark Ciacco has been promoted to Prospect Development Skills Coach.. In his new role, Ciaccio will work primarily with the team’s prospects as part of the player development staff. Ciacco also served as skills coach for Arizona Coyotes from 2001 to 2013 seasons and worked with MODO in the Swedish Hockey League. Ciacco has been with the New York Rangers since 2013.
Paul Mara
Paul Mara played 156 games for Blueshirts and collected eight goals and 35 assists for 43 points. He has 734 NHL games and produced 253 points with six franchises. A seventh overall pick in 1997 NHL Entry Draft. Paul, the last two seasons coached the Boston Pride of Premier Hockey Federation. Also Mara served as an assist coach of the USA National Women’s Team from 2016 to 2018 where he helped the Women’s team win an Olympic Gold Medal in 2018. He was hired to work with Rangers.player development staff with prospects on and off the ice. Brandon Rogers will be the Senior Sports Therapist, Rodgers spend the last five seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Andy Hosler is the new Head Athletic Trainer, replacing Jim Ramsey, who went on to Montreal. Hosler spent the last two seasons at Michigan State University as Head Athletic Trainer. Before Michigan State University, Hosler spent 14 seasons with the Nashville Predators, including his final eight seasons as Head Athletic Trainer. Furthermore, Kayla McAvoy has been hired as Assistant Sports Scientist. Also, Kathryn Yates will be the Manager of Performance Data Insights.
