The Anaheim Ducks announced the re-signing of 25 year-old first-line winger, Troy Terry. The Ducks officially locked in the Denver, Colorado native who has broken out into a star within the last few seasons for the franchise. The Troy Terry contract is great for both sides. He will remain in Anaheim for seven years and will earn $7 million per season.

Terry Stays Put In Anaheim
The Ducks are coming off what might have been their worst season in their 29 year old existence. Anaheim finished 23-47 with only 58 points to show for their 2022-23 season. The front office has made it clear that they looked to enter the off-season with a focus on locking in young talent. Terry was drafted by the franchise in the 2015 NHL draft.
After four years of development, he would break out in the 2021-22 season. He tallied 37 goals and 30 assists with 67 total points in 75 games played. This had cemented his place on the Ducks top line alongside star centre Trevor Zegras and Adam Henrique. His production would take a slight step back coming off the 2022-23 season. However, in all fairness, the team as a whole took a step back this past season. He finished the 2022-23 season with 23 goals and 38 assists in 70 games played. Even with a slight dip in production, Terry still improved in other areas of his game. He worked through developing maturity, focusing on generating chances through his 16 game scoring drought mid-season, and being an impact player on the ice through the struggling Ducks season.
What This Means For The Future
This Troy Terry contract is great for the future. The Ducks have a lot to improve on going into this off season. The front office honed in on getting their star centre penned to a new contract as the face of the franchise with Zegras. The re-signing of Troy Terry only cements that the franchise is focusing on locking in their young talent and rightfully so. Zegras and Terry are proving to be solid players to build around. Locking in Terry was the step in the right direction for a franchise that can only go up from here.
