Alex Galchenyuk Waived By Coyotes

According to the team, the Arizona Coyotes have waived forward Alex Galchenyuk after only 12 days on the job.

Coyotes Waive Galchenyuk

The third time is not the charm, as the Coyotes have put Galchenyuk on waivers for termination.

According to Greg Wyshynski of ESPN, the team discovered an off-ice issue that led to them terminating his contract. The off-ice issue has not been revealed, and the club will not comment further.

This would’ve been his 7th different team in only three seasons after being traded to the Coyotes in 2018.

Galchenyuk signed a one-year, two-way deal with the club on July 1st.

What Happened?

Although not much is known, it appears severe as the club has completely cut ties with him and refuses to comment.

While we likely may never know what happened, what is evident is that Galchenyuk’s North American hockey career is over.

Whether he signs a deal in the AHL or in Europe is up to him. Plenty of examples show players have transformed their careers and managed to play productive hockey.

Although, a small problem is that Galchenyuk has barely played at the top level recently. He spent only 11 games last year with the Colorado Avalanche before playing 42 games with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles. Before that, he spent 60 games with the Coyotes, putting up 21 points.

Although where he goes next is unclear, it is an essential stop in a career where he has played in 10 cities and has been traded more than six times.
