Teuvo Teravainen Out Indefinitely With Upper Body Injury

Carolina Hurricanes Head Coach Rod Brind’Amour announced that forward Teuvo Teravainen broke his hand in game two during their first-round series against the New York Islanders. Teravainen’s hand requires surgery, and he will be out indefinitely.

Teuvo Teravainen Out Indefinitely

The injury bug has again hit the Carolina Hurricanes, as Teuvo Teravainen is out indefinitely with a broken hand and will need surgery.

This will be the third player to be ruled out with an injury for the Hurricanes, as they have lost Andrei Svechnikov and Max Pacioretty to injury.

Teravainen, 28, has been the Hurricanes’ first-line left wing this season, recording 37 points in 68 games with the Hurricanes in the regular season, and had no issues in two playoff games.

Teravainen appeared to break his hand from a slash by Islanders forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau in the third period while putting up a shot attempt.

What This Means

This injury puts a severe dent in the forward depth of the Hurricanes and puts their game-three success in question.

This may seem like an injury the Canes can shake off, but they are losing their 1LW for the playoffs and have already lost Pacioretty and Svechnikov.

Although the Hurricanes have a comfortable two-game lead, the Islanders now have an opportunity to out-match them with their advantage in depth over the Hurricanes.

Although Teravainen didn’t contribute much in the regular season and playoffs, They are still losing a first-line forward and will have to shuffle their lines to accommodate the loss. The impact will be felt in game three, as both teams head to new york for games three and four.
