It wasn’t long ago that Dallas Stars General Manager, Jim Nill was catching heat from fans for dragging out contract negotiations with Jason Robertson. Now that Robertson is leading the league in goals and among the top for points, that deal makes Nill look like a genius. And with just over a quarter of the season gone, Nill strikes again. The news dropped that he signed Roope Hintz to an eight-year, 8.45 million dollar AAV deal.

Hintz is a 26-year-old centre and is one of the best two-way forwards in the league. His game is made using his speed and creating chances for himself and his linemates. He often times finds himself on rushes and he is very good at burying those in the back of the net. But his talent doesn’t stop there. His defensive game is just as good and he is an imperative part of the Stars penalty kill.
So far this season, Hintz has eight goals, 16 assists, and 24 points. The second-round pick has become an important part of one of the hottest lines in the National Hockey League. Hintz has been in the league since the 2018-2019 season. Since then he has recorded 88 goals, 106 assists, and 194 points in 261 games. He has also found himself on the Selke ballot in previous seasons and is making a strong case for himself this season.

Looking Forward
The Finnish player is going to be a pillar for the Stars organization for many years to come. He has had some incredible company on the top line with Robertson and Joe Pavelski, but even when that line is no longer, he will still be able to enhance the skills of whoever he is with. He is also growing into a leadership role, which will be beneficial for him and the young, talented players the Stars organization has coming up. The future is bright for Hintz and the Stars.
