Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today’s featured game is the Calgary Flames vs Edmonton Oilers.

Calgary Flames vs Edmonton Oilers
Head-to-Head: Oilers 2-1 Flames
The last time the teams played on March 7, the Flames won 3-1. Johnny Gaudreau and Tyler Toffoli led both teams with two points each. But, the Oilers outscored the Flames 10-5 and won the previous two matchups this season.
This is the second game of a back-to-back for the Flames. They played the Arizona Coyotes on Friday night. Before Friday’s game, they lost to the Sharks. Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk lead the Flames in points but are still a ways away from catching up to Edmonton’s leaders.
The Oilers won their last game against the Sharks. The Oilers are led by Connor McDavid, who has 95 points in 64 games, and Leon Draisaitl, who has 90 points in 65 games.
Both teams are in playoff spots, but Calgary is in first place in the Pacific, while Edmonton is in third. Edmonton needs the win a little bit more.

Dallas Stars vs Vancouver Canucks
Head-to-Head: Stars 0-0 Canucks
This is the first of two matchups between the Stars and the Canucks this season.
The Stars come into the game on a three-game winning streak. Joe Pavelski leads the team in points with 66 in 63 games. In second place is Jason Robertson with 60 points in 55 games. Roope Hintz has 55 points in 61 games.
The Canucks won their last game against the Colorado Avalanche. J.T. Miller is running away with the team lead in points with 78 in 64 games. Quinn Hughes is next with 52 points in 62 games.
Both teams are still in the wild-card race. Dallas has an advantage with 75 points in 63 games. Vancouver has 71 points in 66 games.
Prediction: 3-2 Canucks
St. Louis Blues vs Carolina Hurricanes
Head-to-Head: Hurricanes 1-0 Blues
The last time the teams played on November 13, the Hurricanes won 3-2. Sebastian Aho, Tony DeAngelo and Andrei Svechnikov had two points each. This is their second and final matchup this season.
The Blues lost their last game to the Philadelphia Flyers. The Blues are led by Jordan Kyrou, who has 61 points in 59 games, and Vladimir Tarasenko, who has 55 points in 56 games.
The Hurricanes lost their last game in a shootout against the Stars. The point leaders on the Hurricanes have similar numbers to the Blues’ point leaders. Aho has 63 points in 61 games, and Svechnikov has 55 points in 61 games.
The Hurricanes are in first place in the Metropolitan Division, while the Blues are third in the Central.
Prediction: 4-2 Hurricanes
Minnesota Wild vs Columbus Blue Jackets
Head-to-Head: Blue Jackets 1-0 Wild
The last time they played each other on March 11, the Blue Jackets won 3-2 in a shootout.
The Wild come into the game on a four-game winning streak. Minnesota is led by Kirill Kaprizov, who has 78 points in 61 games. Mats Zuccarello is next with 63 points in 54 games.
This is the second game of a back-to-back for the Blue Jackets. They played the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night. Before Friday night, the Blue Jackets lost 5-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Patrik Laine and Oliver Bjorkstrand lead the Blue Jackets in points.
The Wild are in second place in the Central Division, while the Blue Jackets are fighting for a wild-card spot and might be too far behind to catch up.
Prediction: 4-1 Wild
Los Angeles Kings vs Seattle Kraken
Head-to-Head: Kings 1-0 Kraken
The Kings beat the Kraken 3-1 on January 15. Phillip Danault and Trevor Moore both had two points in the win. This is the first of two straight games between the Kings and the Kraken.
The Kings lost their last game to the Chicago Blackhawks in a shootout. The Kings are led by Anze Kopitar, who has 55 points in 66 games. Moore is second on the team in points with 41 in 66 games.
The Kraken have won their past two games. Yanni Gourde leads Seattle with 38 points in 56 games. Jared McCann is next with 37 points in 56 games. Jordan Eberle is third with 36 points in 62 games.
The Kings are in second place in the Pacific Division, but the Kraken are far removed from the playoff race.
Prediction: 3-1 Kings
San Jose Sharks vs Anaheim Ducks
Head-to-Head: Ducks 2-0 Sharks
The last time the teams played, the Ducks won 3-2 in overtime on March 6. Cam Fowler, Adam Henrique and Troy Terry each had two points.
The Sharks lost their last game to the Oilers 5-2. The Sharks are led by Timo Meier, who has 62 points in 59 games, and Tomas Hertl, who has 52 points in 64 games.
The Ducks are on an eight-game losing streak. The Ducks are led by Terry, who has 53 points in 60 games, and Trevor Zegras, who has 47 points in 59 games.
The Sharks and Ducks are in right next to each other in the standings, neither extremely likely to make it into the playoffs. The Ducks are ahead with 65 points in 66 games, while the Sharks have 64 points in 64 games.
