Zach Whitecloud Injury Adds To Vegas’ List of Injuries
Although the Golden Knights have been performing well this year, they have struggled with injuries. They’re currently sitting first in the Pacific Division with a record of 27-16-3, However, players like Alec Martinez, Jake Bischoff, Jack Eichel, and Adam Brooks have all been injured or acquired while injured since the season started.
The Zach Whitecloud injury will most likely not affect Vegas too much, although he has done well for Vegas this year. It also depends on where the broken break is, as he could play with the injury. Now if the break is in a spot that prevents him from playing, he could be out for a while depending on the procedure they use to repair the bone. Whitecloud will be out of the lineup for a while. Even though no further updates were given, for the time being, more will likely come in the near future.
How This Will Affect The Golden Knights
Zach Whitecloud is on the last year of a league-minimum deal. That means it’ll cost them a similar amount, if not more money, just to bring in a replacement for him. As mentioned earlier, the injury won’t affect Vegas too much. They have enough depth to make up for the loss of Whitecloud. They shouldn’t fall too far with his loss. Vegas is the best team in the Pacific, they’ll remain around the 1st spot in the division until Whitecloud returns.
Whitecloud has a $2.75 million extension which kicks in at the end of the season, so Vegas should be thankful that they don’t have to worry about him being injured with that cap hit compared to his current $775,000 cap hit.
