Team Canada Olympic Roster Announced By Hockey Canada

The 25-men roster, considering all that Canada could access, it’s not bad but yet not great.

The goalies for Canada are Devon Levi, Edward Pasquale, and Matt Thompkins. Levi was the 2021 World Juniors starting goaltender. Although he had a tremendous contest, Team Canada suffered a brutal loss in the gold medal match to Trevor Zegras, Cole Caufield, and the United States.

On defence, is Brandon Gormley, Alex Grant, Owen Power, Tyler Wotherspoon, Mat Robinson, Mark Barberio, Maxim Noreau, and Jason Demers. Some notable names on defence include former NHLer and longtime Arizona Coyote Jason Demers, and the Buffalo Sabres 1st overall draft pick Owen Power. Power was on Team Canada when they won the World Men’s Championship Gold medal in May 2021.

The forward group for Canada includes Daniel Carr, Corban Knight, Ben Street, Jack McBain, Eric Staal, Adam Tambellini, Eric O’Dell, Daniel Winnik, Adam Cracknell, Mason McTavish, Landon Ferraro, David Desharnais, Jordan Weal, and Josh Ho-Sang. There are a lot of notable former NHLers and World Junior standout Mason McTavish. Although there is a surprising amount of former Montreal Canadiens on the forward group with Eric Staal, Daniel Carr, Jordan Weal, and David Desharnais. Another interesting player on this team is Landon Ferraro, the son of former NHLer and current NHL commentator Ray Ferraro.

What This Holds For The Future

Although there couldn’t be any NHLers, there still is a decent amount of NHL-caliber talent on this team. Guys like Eric Staal, Owen Power, and Mason McTavish are expected to be the standouts on this team.  Although it may not be the dominant team that people were expecting, it hopefully will be one of the more dominant teams of the Olympics.
