With the NHL season underway, that means the Last Word on Hockey Show is back again on the MAD Radio Network. Your host Jim Biringer from lastwordonhockey.com was back alongside Coach Jay for episode four with Marc Weiss on assignment. The boys dive into the signing of Morgan Rielly and then go around looking at the Pacific Division, plus the latest Jack Eichel rumours.
The Last Word on Hockey Show: Morgan Rielly and Jack Eichel
Morgan Reilly Signing
Jim opens the show by welcoming everyone to the show and they get right into it discussing the Morgan Rielly signing that happened Friday afternoon. Both Coach Jay and Jim agree that this is a solid signing by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jim points out there is a belief in this core group and they are doubling down on it. Jim brings up the fact that Jack Campbell is up next and let’s see if the Maple Leafs have the cap space to get a deal done.
Jack Eichel Rumours
Of course what hockey show would be complete without talking about Jack Eichel. The boys discuss how talks are heating up for this player to get traded. Jim and Coach Jay run down the teams where Eichel could potentially land.
This ties right into the Pacific Division talk the boys are talking about. Jim mentions how the Vegas Golden Knights are leading the way with their injuries to Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty. Jim mentions Robin Lehner and Coach Jay says he is the man there now and he might be missing Marc-Andre Fleury there. Both agree Vegas could make this deal work but it would take a lot.
The boys then go around the rest of the Pacific Division looking at the top teams touching on the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Seattle Kraken. Jim mentions players to watch like Andrew Mangiapane, Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman, and others.
In addition to the Pacific Division, the boys discuss the play of the New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings.
