Another week in the NHL means The Last Word on Hockey Show is back on the MAD Radio Network and North East Streaming Sports. Your host Jim Biringer from lastwordonhockey.com was back alongside Coach Jay and March Weiss. The boys take a trip around the NHL looking at the big stories of the week. This week they look at Patrick Marleau breaking Gordie Howe‘s record, Taylor Hall‘s Impact on Boston, and the surging New York Rangers and so much more.
The Last Word on Hockey
Jim welcomes everyone back to another episode and opens the show with some news and notes from around the league. The boys discuss Patrick Marleau tying and breaking Gordie Howe’s record for most NHL games played. Coach Jay and Marc talk about how they watched Gordie play. Jim throws in some comments about Marleau being one of the good guys in the league and how he played most of those games with the San Jose Sharks. He and Joe Thornton will always be linked to the Sharks organization. This is a great accomplishment because nobody thought this record be broken.
Taylor Hall’s Resurgence
The show switches over to the boys discussing the Taylor Hall trade to Boston. They all agree Hall is having a resurgence with the Bruins. Jim points how Hall wanted to be in Boston from the start and playing on a winner has allowed Hall to play his game. The Bruins now have two lines that score. Plus with the Tuukka Rask coming back the Bruins have an edge in the East Division. They are clicking on all cylinders and are a team to watch heading towards the playoffs.
Red-Hot New York Rangers
A team the Bruins are trying to hold off is the Rangers. The Rangers are playing well. And as Coach Jay and Marc point out their top players are performing at a high level. Jim notes that the Rangers are doing what they need to do to make playoffs and winning against teams lower in the standings. They all agree while the Rangers are playing well, they may just run out of real estate with the Bruins holding two games in hand. It will be an interesting race as the season winds down.
