This is the early set of predictions here on Sunday, April 11th. Be sure to check out out the late predictions as well. In addition, we also offer a featured game of the day, which is a game that we think is must-watch TV. Today’s featured game is the New York Rangers vs New York Islanders
NHL Predictions: New York Rangers vs New York Islanders
Pittsburgh Penguins vs New Jersey Devils
Head-to-Head: Penguins 2 – 2 Devils
The New Jersey Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins are battling for the second time in three days. They will look to close out their season series at the end of the month. The Devils are a team that plays well against the Penguins for some reason. Recent history shows that New Jersey has a slight edge in the victory column. However, Pittsburgh is starting to gain those victories back. Sidney Crosby and company defeated the Devils by a score of 6-4 on Friday night. The youth movement is on in New Jersey it will be interesting to see who they match up against that Crosby line. The Penguins are looking to secure a playoff spot and win over the Devils will be a step in the right direction. Even with Mackenzie Blackwood in the net, the Penguins are just too much.
Prediction: Penguins win 5-3
Buffalo Sabres vs Philadelphia Flyers
Head-to-Head: Flyers 5 – 2 Sabres
The Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres play for the final time today in Philadelphia happening early this afternoon. The Flyers are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive as they battle two other teams in front of them. Philadelphia has been a bit of a streaky team lately. They have gone through the win one, lose one pattern. And this time of year that does not bold well to make the playoffs. The Flyers came off an emotional win on Saturday against Boston, will they have enough gas left in the tank to take on a weaker Sabres team. Philadelphia will be out for revenge as Buffalo snapped their 18-game losing streak to the Flyers in dominating fashion. The Sabres have already sold off one asset, look for others to go as well. Flyers end the season the series on a high note.
Prediction: Flyers win 4-1
Arizona Coyotes vs Vegas Golden Knights
Head-to-Head: Golden Knights 4 – 1 Coyotes
The Vegas Golden Knights own a nice winning percentage over the Arizona Coyotes this season. After today’s game, the two teams will meet twice more to close out their season series. Vegas has been one of the best teams in the West Division as they battle Colorado for the top spot. Arizona is on the outside looking as St. Louis passed them in the standings. For Arizona to have any shot of making the playoffs they need a win here against Vegas. However, the Golden Knights have too much firepower with Max Pacioretty, Mark Stone, and others leading the charge. They are only getting stronger with Robin Lehner returning and Marc-Andre Fleury between the pipes. Arizona feels more like a seller than a buyer at the deadline.
Prediction: Vegas wins 5-2
New York Rangers vs New York Islanders
Head-to-Head: Rangers 2 – 2 Islanders
The New York Rangers vs New York Islanders highlight the early game action here on a Sunday. The Rangers defeated the Islanders in their last meeting with Alexander Georgiev in the net. Today, Igor Shesterkin will man the net for the Rangers as they look to continue their red-hot ways. The Rangers are battling the Flyers and Bruins for that final playoff spot in the East Division as they are only five points out. It is a long road ahead for the preseason favourites to make the playoffs, but with Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad playing some of their best hockey of the season lookout for the Rangers. Not to mention on the backend Adam Fox and K’Andre Miller are looking like superstars. Having a different message when the Rangers coaching staff was out certainly woke this team up.

On the Islanders side of things, they are looking to fine-tune their game as the playoffs being sometime in May. The recent acquisitions of Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac only make this team better and they make not be done either. Look for the Islanders to still be active come the trade deadline on Monday. The Islanders are currently tied with the Capitals for the top spot in the East Division. They will want to keep pace as much as they can. These games are always tied between these New York rivals. Look for another close one today.
Prediction: Islanders win 3-2
