Tyler Toffoli Out With Injury
Arpon Basu, editor-in-chief of The Athletic Montreal broke the news Saturday afternoon that Toffoli would miss tonight’s game and was considered day-t0-day with a lower-body injury. In a presser, Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme said Tyler Toffoli got hurt at the end of Montreal’s Friday night OT loss against Vancouver. Ducharme also said Artturi Lehkonen would be drawing in the lineup against Toffoli’s former team.
Toffoli’s Play Thus Far
Toffoli has had a fantastic inaugural season with the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge, with 18 goals and 27 points in 29 games. He has been even flashier against the Canucks, with who he shared a cup of coffee last season. The 28-year-old has eight goals and 13 points in only eight games against the Canucks. His play recently against the Winnipeg Jets displayed his explosiveness in particular. In two games back to back, he tallied four points with three goals. He has been a big part of the Canadiens limited success this season. The team currently sits fourth in the North Division with 35 points.
Toffoli’s ability has really put itself front and centre on this Montreal team. This team has had a very strong defensive game but has struggled to find its scoring touch at times. Toffoli has brought that to this team and puts them directly in the mix to win the North Division. With Tyler Toffoli out with injury, only time will tell if the team can continue its stellar play without him.
