Another week in the NHL means The Last Word on Hockey Show is back on the MAD Radio Network and North East Streaming Sports. Your host Jim Biringer from lastwordonhockey.com is back alongside Coach Jay as Marc Weiss was on assignment. The boys take a trip around the NHL looking at the big stories of the week. This week they stay with a local flare talking about the New York Islanders, New York Rangers, the saga between Patrik Laine and the Columbus Blue Jackets, and much more.
The Last Word on Hockey Show
New York Islanders
Jim opens the show welcoming everyone to the program. After being called out for mostly talking about the Rangers, he takes a fan request to talk about one of the hottest teams in the East Division, the Islanders. Jim talks about the Islanders winning streak. How they are doing this without Anders Lee in the lineup. However, that is how Barry Trotz coaches. It is a team game not just about one player. Coach Jay talks about the tandem of Semyon Varlamov and Ilya Sorokin. Jay says Sorokin has settled in nicely.

New York Rangers
Jim transitions the show to talk about the New York Rangers and goalie Keith Kinkaid. He mentions how Kinkaid knows his role with the team. And Coach Jay agrees that Kinkaid is more of a backup than a starter. But until Alexandre Georgiev can figure things out the Rangers may have to ride Kinkaid until Igor Shesterkin gets back. They also discuss the return of Artemi Panarin.
Patrik Laine and the Blue Jackets
Finally, the boys talk about what is going on in Columbus with John Tortorella and Patrik Laine. Coach Jay and Jim discuss Laine’s second benching of the season. Jim brings up a question does Tortorella want to get fired? Considering Patrik Laine is a great offensive weapon, but we all know he is not the greatest defensive in the world. Something has to give here.
