Welcome back to another day of NHL Predictions. Each day, we will take a look at the games that are happening and give our predictions for each one. This is the first of three sets of predictions tonight. Be sure to check out the other two on the site too. As well, we also offer a featured game of the day, which is a game that we think is must-watch TV. Today’s featured game is the New York Rangers vs Boston Bruins.
NHL Predictions: New York Rangers vs Boston Bruins
Pittsburgh Penguins vs Buffalo Sabres
Head-to-Head: Penguins 0 – 0 Sabres
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres are meeting for the first time this season. They will meet four times over the month of March. These two teams are going in opposite directions. The Penguins have gotten their act together after a poor start. Meanwhile, the Sabres are dealing with problems not only on the ice but off the ice as well. They still do not have Jack Eichel in the lineup as he continues to deal with a neck injury. Not to mention the constant trade rumours surrounding his name. Meanwhile, the Penguins are playing well. They are getting contributions from everyone up and down the lineup including goaltender Tristan Jarry who has raised his game as of late. This is a game Pittsburgh must win to solidify themselves as a playoff team.
Predictions: Penguins Win 4-2

New Jersey Devils vs New York Islanders
Head-to-Head: Islanders 2 – 1 Devils
This is the first of three games in a row the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders will meet. Again, it is a battle of teams going in opposite directions. The Islanders are the kings of the metropolitan area right now as they are winners of their last six straight games and points in nine straight games. The tandem of Semyon Varlamov and Ilya Sorokin are setting the hockey world on fire. It took some time for Sorokin to adjust, but since he has he is rolling for the Islanders showing why they signed him to the deal they did and brought him over from Russia. Mathew Barzal and Anders Lee are leading the charge. And that stingy Islanders’ defence continues to win hockey games. On the other side of things, the Devils are struggling, even though, they rallied to get a point against the Capitals. Jack Hughes is showing why he is going to be a star in this league, but he needs more help. He can’t do it by himself. It doesn’t help Nico Hischier is not in the lineup.
Prediction: Islanders win 3-1
Washington Capitals vs Philadelphia Flyers
Head-to-Head: Capitals 1 – 1 Flyers
This is the third meeting between the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers. The two teams splitting the first two meetings of the season and with the Penguins surging one of these teams could be on the outside looking in. Neither team can afford a loss, more so the Flyers, who have been struggling as of late especially Carter Hart and he knows it. Washington brings a lot of firepower to the game with Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Jakub Vrana. The Flyers boast a solid lineup too, but the way the Capitals are playing, everything is leaning towards the Capitals.
Prediction: Capitals Win 3-1
Boston Bruins vs New York Rangers
Head-to-Head: Bruins 3 – 1 Rangers
The featured game of the night is the Boston Bruins vs New York Rangers. Usually, these teams play very tight games. However, the last two affairs in February were pretty one-sided with the teams splitting those two games. However, this will be the first game on Boston’s home ice. The previous four meetings were all at Madison Square Garden. But things will be a little different for the Rangers this time. Because they will have Artemi Panarin back in the lineup as he returned to practice for the Rangers on Wednesday. They definitely need him considering they are not getting consistent offence from their top players. Another thing the Rangers need is Igor Shesterkin in the lineup. Alexandar Georgiev and Keith Kinkaid have played well in his absence, but the Rangers were rolling with their number one goalie.
On the Boston side of things, they are sitting in fourth place in the East Division. Lots of rumours swirling around Jake DeBrusk. However, the Bruins are right where they want to be in playoff position. The top line of Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, and David Pastrnak are playing well as a unit. But again the secondary scoring is an issue when they don’t score. One thing is for sure, the Bruins need to clean up tighten things up as the stretch run to the playoffs is on. And the Rangers will help the Bruins reestablish their game.
Prediction: Bruins Win 4-2
