NHL Predictions
Montreal Canadiens vs. Ottawa Senators
Head-to-Head: Canadiens 1-2 Senators
Tonight’s matchup will be the fourth meeting between the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators this season. The Canadiens dropped their previous game to Ottawa with a score of 3-2. Brady Tkachuk would score the overtime winner to give the Senators their fifth win of the season. Jake Allen faced 39 shots, ending the game with a respectable .929 save percentage. with
Tonight’s game will be the second meeting in three nights for these two teams. Ottawa has grabbed two of their five wins this season from Montreal. While doing so, Matt Murray has started every game, and he has been solid for Ottawa. Montreal has been drifting away since their hot start as they have four wins in their previous ten. Every game between these two teams this season has been decided by one goal. It will be a close one!
Prediction: Montreal Wins 3-1
Nashville Predators vs. Detroit Red Wings
Head-to-Head: Predators 1-1 Red Wings
In the Central division tonight, only one game is on the short NHL schedule. This matchup will be the first of two straight games for the Nashville Predators and the Detroit Red Wings. Both teams are on the down slopes as they each have just three wins in their last ten games. However, they are both coming off a win in their previous game, and hopefully, the momentum can go in the right direction for both teams. If Nashville wants to be apart of the playoffs they need to get some wins now and take off before that thought fades away. Their offence has let them down this season, but thankfully Filip Forsberg has provided for the Predators, he leads his team with fifteen points. Tonight displays a golden opportunity for Nashville’s offence to start clicking
Prediction: Predators Win 4-1
Edmonton Oilers vs. Vancouver Canucks
Head-to-Head: Oilers 1-1 Canucks
The third and final game of tonight’s NHL schedule brings a great battle between two western Canadian teams, the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks. Edmonton sits second place in the North division, having won eight of their last ten games. The Oilers are on their third three-game winning streak of the season after defeating the Calgary Flames back to back.
Vancouver and Edmonton last met on January 14th, with the Oilers skating away in a 5-2 win. Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid each recorded four points that night. Vancouver sits in 5th place in the North, and with a much-needed win against Edmonton tonight, it would set them up nicely chasing Montreal. The NHL’s second-best goal scorers this season, Brock Boeser and Connor McDavid, lead their teams with twelve goals. Quinn Hughes leads all defencemen in the NHL with 21 points. This matchup has potential for a high-scoring game.
Prediction: Oilers Win 5-3
