Paul Krepelka Set as New Assistant General Manager
After making a significant splash in this year’s free agency, the Florida Panthers still aren’t done this offseason. On Monday, the Panthers officially announced Krepelka would become the new assistant general manager. Krepelka will begin by taking over many of the roles previous assistant general manager Eric Joyce was responsible for. With the addition of Krepelka, the Panthers are looking at him to run the team’s new affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers.
As a matter of fact, Krepelka has been the Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Carolina Hurricanes for the past two years. It seems that his job description will stay eerily familiar. While with Carolina, he was in charge of contract negotiations, player personnel, and salary cap compliance, to name a few.
Also, the team added Tom Bark as the assistant to the general manager. As been reported by David Dwork, Panther beat writer, “To be clear, the team has yet to officially announce what either Krepelka or Bark’s responsibilities will be.”
What is Next
All things considered, the Panther’s new general manager Bill Zito has arrived as an up-incoming general manager. As soon as he gained full control, Zito dove headfirst into the general manager world. As we patiently wait for the start of next season, Panthers fans everywhere are quite excited about the direction the team is trending. It should be an interesting next season, to say the least.
