Throwing Haymakers Podcast: Episode 9
On Episode 9 of the Throwing Haymakers Podcast, the boys are joined by fellow LWOH writer Bill Grigsby, who offers his take on the plethora of storylines surrounding the Arizona Coyotes organization. A lively conversation also takes place surrounding the entertaining Western Conference Final.
The Coyotes find themselves in a serious bind. Already being a cash-strapped organization, the financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are extremely detrimental to the club. Star players such as Taylor Hall, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and Darcy Kuemper may not be back with the team next season. The team needs to dump player salaries, and fast. Ekman-Larsson has been linked to the Calgary Flames by Elliotte Friedman. Any team in the market for a goalie would be interested in Kuemper with his value-effective cap hit.
With Hall, the boys discuss the possible formation of a Colorado Avalanche superteam. Brandon also entertains the pipe dream of an Alberta reunion with the Edmonton Oilers and Connor McDavid. They also discuss the prospect of the Coyotes potentially trading Hall’s negotiation rights prior to October 9th. Every draft pick counts for the team after being hit by league sanctions.
Staying out West, they check-in with the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars. All acknowledging that it’s been a closer series than many thought, the crew all concede that the Golden Knights are still the likely victors.
Brandon, Josh, Mat, and Bill also take some time to discuss potential landing spots for Tyler Toffoli. While he’s expressed interest in re-signing with the Vancouver Canucks, nothing is for certain.
