NHL Qualifying Series Comic Captions: NY Islanders vs Florida Panthers

NHL qualifying series

Have you ever looked at a sports photo and thought of a funny caption? We have, and did a collection of some for the 2019-20 season. Now, we are continuing that with the NHL qualifying series which began recently. We are collecting some photos with humorous captions added to entertain you during this postseason play. Today we cover the New York Islanders vs the Florida Panthers comic captions for the 2019-20 postseason.

New York Islanders vs Florida Panthers

The New York Islanders Were Too Much for Panthers in NHL Qualifying Series

The Islanders took a quick two games to none lead in the qualifying series before the 10th ranked Panthers salvaged Game 3 to stave off elimination. It was clear who the better team was, as the Islanders won two straight to send the Florida club home dreaming of Alexis Lafreniere. They will have a 12.5 percent chance of acquiring the first overall pick.

The Islanders were paced in scoring by Anthony Beauvillier who collected three goals and two assists including two goals in the decisive Game 4. Jean-Gabriel Pageau also pitched in with three lamplighters. Semyon Varlamov was spot on in the net. He had a 3-1 record with a .932 save percentage and a sparkling 1.77 goals-against-average. Hard to beat those stats. New York will play the winner of Sunday’s game between the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Islanders are a disciplined club under the leadership of Barry Trotz. He gets whatever is needed from his troops and is a great strategist. It should be an entertaining first-round matchup.

The Florida Panthers Are a Hot Mess… Now What?

With this elimination, there were rumours that general manager and president of hockey operations, Dale Tallon may be gone.

It’s unclear who would replace him but the team obviously thought they should have done better in the qualifying round against the Islanders. With the Panthers cap space at just short of $21 million, there may be some changes made besides the rumoured front office. Mike Hoffman and Evgenii Dadonov are both unrestricted free agents as is Erik Haula.

Hoffman had 29 goals, and 30 assists during the 2019-20 campaign. Dadonov had 25 goals and 22 assists. With the Panthers cap space due to be just short of $21 million, re-signing both of them may be a chore. With this possible front office snafu, your guess is as good as mine what will go down. Considering the possibility of a new general manager coming in, the re-signing of star players like Hoffman and Dadonov becomes paramount.

Going Forward

The only certainty for the hapless Panthers is that their name will be placed in the hopper for the grand prize of Alexis Lafreniere. Can he help the Panthers if they are fortunate enough to grab him? Of course. No matter which team adds him to their roster, he will be making a huge mark on the franchise. Who knows, it could even increase Florida’s 29th placement in attendance at just over 14,000 fans per game. If Lafreniere doesn’t bring them to games, they’re hopeless.
