As the hottest topic in our daily lives has been the coronavirus, we discuss how it has affected the NHL. We go over how the league will continue when the virus restrictions cease. Will the league go to 11 teams qualifying for the Stanley Cup? Or, could the season be completed with less games? There’s lots of options for the NHL upper management to choose from.
Coronavirus Halts Play in the NHL
Most hockey fans are bummed out that their favorite sport is not being played. The NHL has told players to go to their home city and await instructions. They probably won’t be able to practice in large groups, or congregate to stay safe from getting infected. No NHL player has tested positive yet, and it’s now a waiting game as to what happens next.
Not that sports are more important than surviving a pandemic, but the shortages of toilet paper and essentials has gone to a new level. The news from the media and the financial actions taken are freaking people out with good cause.
Trade Oliver Ekman-Larsson
William throws out that in one of his articles he suggested that the Arizona Coyotes should consider trading Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Dave and Greg both agree that it may be difficult to move him, but his level of play has decreased. Greg throws out that perhaps the Buffalo Sabres may be interested since they are in the same predicament as the Coyotes in not making the playoffs.
Ed Frankovic Calls in
Ed used to be the Washington Capitals statistician from 1987-97. He tells us how the coronavirus has affected the area around Washington, D.C. and how the players are coping. He terms things similar to a lockout where players are not playing and can’t practice. Ed tells us that the Capitals have issues and are an offensive team but their defence needs some work.
He was not a fan of the team losing head coach Barry Trotz. They have been a .500 hockey team since the end of 2019. They have a stale power play and perhaps the break will help them. He feels Alex Ovechkin has carried the team on his back. You can contact him on twitter at @edfrankovic.
Adam Berry – Sports Psychologist
Adam Berry has been involved in sports for over 20 years and has a Masters in Sports Psychology from California Southern University.
His wealth of knowledge includes a successful history as a soccer coach at the college and professional ranks, as well as being a talented player himself. He has also worked as a general manager for two professional soccer clubs.
Adam has worked extensively with athletes of all ages and skill levels, from youth sport through to the professional ranks. His experience as a player and coach gives him a valuable insight into the daily challenges athletes and sports professionals face.
By combining proven psychological tools, Adam has had great success helping sportsmen and women overcome obstacles, break down barriers, and go on to perform at their absolute peak.
As a recent citizen of the United States, Adam originally hails from England, but now calls Scottsdale, Arizona his home.
This was a really intriguing interview with Adam. He teaches us some methods he uses to guide athlete’s who are struggling with their performance. Be sure to listen in and learn some ideas he promotes.
Sonya Benson From Phoenix City Grille Interview
Sonya was a delight. She filled us in on the happenings at the restaurant and some of the menu items. Sonya’s fiance plays hockey and she is into also. We had a great time asking her questions and we certainly enjoyed the hospitality and food. We can’t wait to come back!
