Ottawa Senators Anthony Duclair Out With Injury

Anthony Duclair

The Ottawa Senators will need to do without forward Anthony Duclair who left the game midway in the third period last night. He took a shot off of his foot and will not play tonight according to head coach D.J. Smith.

Anthony Duclair Injured

According to Smith, Duclair won’t play against the Nashville Predators tonight and may miss more time than that one game.

Duclair, 24 who hails from Pointe-Claire, Quebec was the 80th overall selection by the New York Rangers in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. This season he has come into his own by scoring 22 goals, 15 assists in 62 games. He tallied a hat-trick against the Columbus Blue Jackets on December 14, 2019. His NHL career over his first six seasons has shown 349 games played. He’s collected 78 goals, 81 assists for 159 points.

He has pretty decent possession numbers with a 46.8 percent Corsi and a Relative Corsi of 3.1. His career Corsi is better with a 48.7 percent and a Relative Corsi of 1.3.

Known for his speed, he has really picked up his game this season. He has reached his career high for goals scored by surpassing his previous high of 20 goals he had during his first season with the Arizona Coyotes. He needs just eight more points to eclipse his season high of 44 points he scored that season in the desert.

What This Means Going Forward

With the moves that the Senators made yesterday at the trade deadline, they will be shorthanded on the forward line. They traded away forwards Vladislav Namestnikov, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, and Tyler Ennis. They received mostly draft picks but will be short on the forward line due to the trades.

It’s a certainty that the Senators will want to get Duclair back in the lineup as soon as possible.
