Colorado Avalanche Re-sign Pavel Francouz to Two-year Deal

Pavel Francouz; NHL Eastern Conference

The Colorado Avalanche re-signed goalie Pavel Francouz to a two-year contract worth $2 million, per season. This contract carries him through the 2021-22 season.

Pavel Francouz Re-Signs With the Avalanche

The 29-year-old netminder who is from Plzen, Czechoslovakia has been in the Av’s organization since the 2018-19 season when he played for the AHL affliliate Colorado Eagles. He only played two games with the Av’s that season and did not record a victory. So far this season, he has stepped right in when starter Philipp Grubauer has been hurt. He has collected a 14-5-3 record this season. His other stats are just as impressive with a 2.44 goals-per-game average and a .923 save percentage.

Executive Vice President and general manager Joe Sakic is excited to have the goalie for an additional two years.

This means that Francouz has played well enough to stick around in Colorado. The team is playing well with him in the net, and it’s always a good thing to have two very skilled net-minders on your team.

What This Means for the Future

With Francouz in the fold, the Avalanche can feel more secure in their goaltending going forward. He has shown he has the ability to play and stay in the NHL. Through hard work and determination he is displaying the type of play that any NHL team would covet.

Look for Francouz to help in the march of the Avalanche to become an elite team. They are right in the fight for being the best team in the Western Conference. If Francouz can continue his stellar play they will be right there by season’s end. He will certainly be an asset once the Av’s get to the playoffs. Hopefully Grubauer will return sooner rather than later.
