A Look at Recent Anaheim Ducks Trade Rumours

Anaheim Ducks trade rumours

Don’t look now but the Anaheim Ducks are showing quiet a bit of confidence as of late. In their last eight games, they’ve gone 5-2-1. In past seasons the Ducks have been known to really turn on the jets after the holiday breaks. By no means does this mean that the team’s woes are over, though. But they are giving die-hard fans hope towards the future. Between Anaheim Ducks trade rumours surrounding fan favorites, young players stepping up to the plate and veterans finding footing; the team is finally showing signs of life.

With the trade deadline fast approaching, naturally, rumors have been sturring. The Ducks have been basement dwellers for the better part of the last two seasons, making many fans and analysts speculate on a fire sale. Josh Manson, Ondrej Kase and even the longest-tenured member of the Ducks franchise and captain Ryan Getzlaf‘s names have all been in the rumor mill.

Looking at Recent Anaheim Ducks Trade Rumours

Josh Manson

Manson, who has been a top-pair-calibre defenceman, has struggled this year. Between injuries and what looked to be him not having his head in the game, he hasn’t maintained his usual style. But since returning from an early injury that kept him benched for most of the early season he seems to be back on track. No one is safe but he looks to have a desire to stay in Anaheim.

Ondrej Kase

Kase has speed, he has stick handling and he has a backhand that gives even the best and most confident goalies nightmares. Unfortunately, he also tends to get injured. He broke the 20 goal plateau in 2017-18 and looked to be well on his way to being an elite goal scorer but his injuries have kept him benched for long periods hindering his output. Last season he missed 52 games after a torn labrum. His output is becoming more consistent. He is showing that he still has what it takes to be a good player in the NHL. With the emergence of Nick Deslauriers as a player to drop the gloves and protect his team, hopefully, he can keep Kase somewhat protected.

Ryan Getzlaf

No matter who you ask if someone built a Mount Rushmore of Ducks icons Ryan Getzlaf is on that memorial. No one will ever wear the number 15 in Anaheim again. But his name has come up in recent trade talk. Aside from the fact that he has a full no-movement clause in his contract, it hard to believe that he could play somewhere else. If the rumors are to be believed he is only willing to waive his nmc for the chance to play on the Edmonton Oilers, Colorado Avalanche or Vegas Golden Knights. But he is the heart and soul of the Ducks franchise. Trading him would be detrimental to the franchise. We will all watch Getzlaf finish his career in Anaheim. He isn’t going anywhere.
