NHL Predictions: January 15th – Including Philadelphia Flyers vs St. Louis Blues

NHL Predictions

Welcome back to NHL Predictions, where the Last Word on Hockey team provides insight into all of today’s games. On Wednesday, January 15th’s edition of NHL Predictions, we’ll take a look at two games. Today’s featured game is a battle between the Philadelphia Flyers vs. St. Louis Blues.

NHL Predictions

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Montreal Canadiens

Head-to-Head: Blackhawks 0-0 Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens will look to extend their two-game winning streak to three straight victories when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night at Bell Centre. Following their nine-game losing skid, the Canadiens have won two games in a row while allowing only one goal against. Carey Price came up tremendous for Montreal. The Habs with 47 points are presently seven points out of the playoff frame in the Eastern Conference.

However, it’s not going to be easy for the Canadiens. The Blackhawks have been one of their nemeses as of late. The Hawks have won five straight contests in Montreal in regulation. The hometown boy Corey Crawford has been in Chicago’s net in all five wins. The Original Six rivalry will have another edition on Wednesday night. The Blackhawks have won four of their past five road games, so they will gladly approach the road after a 2-2 split during their most recent four-game homestand. Chicago still holds its thin playoff hopes alive with 46 points.

Prediction: Chicago wins 4-2.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. St. Louis Blues

Head-to-Head: Flyers 0-0 Blues

This is the Last Word on Hockey featured game of the night.

In the featured game of our NHL Predictions, it’s a Wednesday Night Hockey matchup between the Philadelphia Flyers and the St. Louis Blues. The reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Blues, easily lead the Western Conference with 67 points. There is nothing better than home ice for the Blues lately. After losing to the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 7 at Enterprise Center, the Blues have won nine straight home contests in regulation.

St. Louis currently holds a four-game winning streak, with all four victories coming at home for them. They also own a 6-2 record versus Philadelphia in their last eight head-to-head matchups in St. Louis. David Perron leads the Blues with 46 points, while Brayden Schenn, the former Flyer, is right behind him with 40 points. The Blues will start Jordan Binnington in net after Jake Allen started in a 4-1 win on Monday.

The Flyers are playing on road ice yet again. On Monday at home, Philadelphia recorded a huge 6-5 shootout victory against the Boston Bruins after coming back from a 5-2 deficit to climb back into the playoff picture in the East. In their last 10 road games, the Flyers have prevailed only twice, and even those two triumphs happened in overtime. Philadelphia has recorded 20 points on the road while earning the other 34 points at Wells Fargo Center.

Prediction: St. Louis wins 3-2.
