NHL Predictions
Vegas Golden Knights vs Dallas Stars
Head to Head: Golden Knights 0-1 Stars
The third full season of NHL hockey for the Vegas Golden Knights is filled with success. Originally a band of misfits, they have proven the doubters wrong with two playoff trips over the last two seasons. So far this year, they sit right on the edge of a playoff spot, holding the second wild card slot in the west. This team has plenty of scorers, with William Karlsson, Max Pacioretty, Reilly Smith, and Mark Stone heading up the offence. And with superstar netminder Marc-Andre Fleury continuing to stand on his head every night, this team should be primed for another win.
The Dallas Stars recently fired Jim Montgomery and are now under the guidance of Rick Bowness. He was able to secure his first win as the bench boss against the New Jersey Devils. One of the hottest teams in the NHL as of late, they will put up a fight against the Golden Knights this week. With Ben Bishop picking up right where he left off last season, this team is in good shape to make a run to the playoffs. That means playing solid hockey now and continuing that for the rest of the season.
Prediction: Golden Knights win 2-1
New Jersey Devils vs Colorado Avalanche
Head to Head: Devils 0-0 Avalanche
The New Jersey Devils have been one of the largest disappointments this season. The additions of P.K. Subban and Jack Hughes were supposed to boost this team up from the bottom of the standings. That has not happened yet. Much of it comes down to goaltending. Cory Schneider has been so much of a shell of his former self, he was demoted to the AHL. Mackenzie Blackwood has not been much better, averaging three goals against this season, and Louis Domingue is over four goals against in five appearances. The Devils need goaltending to improve their situation.
The Colorado Avalanche have been dominating the league and they have been doing it without their stars. Both Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog have missed significant time this year with injuries. Cale Makar has wildly impressed, averaging just under a point per game and is a Calder Trophy favorite. Unfortunately for Avs fans, he just hit the injury list. But fear not, this train is rolling strong and shows no signs of slowing down.
Prediction: Avalanche win 5-1
That does it for today’s NHL predictions. Be sure to check back tomorrow for another slate of games.
