As the calendar flips to December, it is much of the same old same old from the New Jersey Devils. Jersey Joe Stanislau and Jim Biringer from lastwordonhockey.com are back from the holiday break with a new episode of the Jersey Joe Corner podcast. In this episode, the boys recap the games against the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers, the latest talk around Taylor Hall, Why John Hynes Needs To Be Replaced, and preview games against the Buffalo Sabres and Vegas Golden Knights. Along with so much more. Looking at any possible New Jersey Devils change.
New Jersey Devils Change
Win One, Lose One
The boys begin the show recapping the holiday weekend in the United States. After a great win against the Canadiens on American Thanksgiving, Jim brings up the disappointing loss to the Rangers on Saturday. Jersey Joe looks at the inconsistencies that have plagued the Devils this season. Jim mentions how the Devils want to be a fast, attacking team, yet they fail to play that way in every game. What makes things worse is their special teams. In the 4-0 loss to the Rangers, Devils give up two short-handed goals. The results are speaking for themselves.
Taylor Hall Talk
Jersey Joe brings up the latest rumblings around the Taylor Hall. The boys look at the teams that would be good trade partners for the Devils. Those include the Colorado Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens, Carolina Hurricanes, Boston Bruins, and St. Louis Blues. Jim brings up the point that you have to read between the lines when Hall speaks. What he says publicly, it necessarily what he means. Jim points to his article entitled “A Look at if the New Jersey Devils Did Enough to Keep Taylor Hall. Clearly his play on the ice indicates, he wants out.
Time For Hynes To Go
Jersey Joe wonders what it is going to take for a New Jersey Devils change in coaching to happen. Jim brings up the point that these things take time, but if a former Devils general manager was still in place, a coaching change would have happened already. Joe goes over his options for who he would like the Devils to name the new head coach if the Devils were to fire Hynes. Jim also brings up that players on the inside are frustrated. This is a similar scenario to what happened in Toronto with Mike Babcock and the Maple Leafs. Jim looks at why Patrik Elias and Scott Stevens would be ideal to come back to the coaching staff.
The boys then preview the games against the Sabres and Golden Knights. Both tricky matchups for the Devils as each team brings something different to the table. Jim then brings up the news surrounding Keith Kinkaid being placed on waivers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins signing Stefan Noesen to a one-year, two-way deal.
