Chicago Blackhawks Andrew Shaw and Duncan Keith Out

Blackhawks 2019-20 Season; Andrew Shaw

The Chicago Blackhawks have announced that they will miss forward Andrew Shaw and defenceman Duncan Keith. Shaw suffered a concussion on Saturday in a loss against the Colorado Avalanche. The Blackhawks have put Shaw in the concussion protocol, and he will miss the upcoming game versus the Boston Bruins on the road on Thursday. Keith has missed the last two games for Chicago. He will continue to be sidelined with his groin issue. Against Boston, Keith will miss his third straight game. The veteran will be out for at least two more contests.

Andrew Shaw In Concussion Protocol for Chicago Blackhawks

Shaw was selected by the Blackhawks in the fifth round in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He has been a part of two Stanley Cup-winning teams for the Blackhawks in 2013 and 2015. In 2016, the Blackhawks traded Shaw to the Montreal Canadiens. After three seasons with the Habs, Chicago re-acquired him in the most recent off-season. During this season, the versatile 28-year-old forward has collected three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 26 games.

Keith hasn’t been in his best form during the past seasons. However, he hasn’t missed a single game in the last two campaigns. Now, he will miss his third straight game after suffering a groin injury last Friday at home against the Avalanche. In 25 regular-season games, the 36-year-old veteran defenceman has gathered one goal and five assists for six points in those 25 clashes.

Injury List Grows For Chicago Blackhawks

During today´s practice, ahead of the road trip for Chicago, Dylan Strome, Drake Caggiula, and Robin Lehner were skating. Strome and Caggiula have been out with a concussion. Shaw is the third Hawks player in concussion protocol. Lehner has missed the game on Monday in Chicago with an illness. He might be ready to face the Bruins on Thursday. Strome is a notable absence for the Blackhawks, as he has recorded 17 points in 23 games played.
