Jersey Joe and Jim jump right into talking about the game against the Hurricanes. The boys discuss how the Devils played one of their better games over the season. MacKenzie Blackwood with starts in three straight games has established himself as the number one goalie. Jim brings up how Blackwood stood on his head and won the game for the Devils. He also mentions the Devils’ quickness and Joe piggybacked off that commenting on how he thought the Devils won a lot of the puck battles. Both felt the bounces are starting to go the Devils way and over the last seven games the Devils are 4-2-1.

Off To Western Canada

The boys take you on a trip through Western Canada as they look at games against the Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks. After dropping the opening game of the season against the Jets, the Devils got some revenge against them. Joe and Jim talk about how the Devils needed to shut down certain players in order to win on the road. Winnipeg has Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler. Calgary has Matthew Tkachuk, Sean Monahan, and Johnny Gaudreau. Edmonton has Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Vancouver has Quinn Hughes, Brock Boeser, and Elias Pettersson. Joe mentions how the Canucks won the trade back from 2013. Recall Vancouver sent Cory Schneider to the Devils for the ninth overall pick in 2013 NHL Draft which turned into Bo Horvat.

Goalie Depth

Joe and Jim look at the trade that brought Domingue from the Tampa Bay Lightning to New Jersey for a conditional seventh-round pick. They disagree on how this helps the team. With Domingue reporting to the AHL, it just adds depth to the organization. It will be interesting to see if the Devils look for another goalie to back him up.

Lastly, they then breakdown what a successful road trip might look like for the Devils. Along with so much more.
