The Ottawa Senators announced that rightwing Scott Sabourin is expected to be released from the hospital on Sunday, November 3rd. Additionally, center Logan Brown sidelined as well. Brown is listed as week to week with an upper-body injury.

Sabourin and Logan Brown Injured

Scott Sabourin was taken off the ice on a stretcher Saturday after a rough collision with Boston Bruins forward David Backes.

So far this season, Sabourin has scored 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 points to go along with 13 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 40.2 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -9.3.

This being his first NHL season it is his first major injury. This year he has 1 goal and 1 assist for a total of 2 points in his career. He went undrafted but has played for the Manchester Monarchs, Iowa Wild, San Diego Gulls, and Stockton heat all of the American Hockey league respectively.

Logan Brown took a slash to the arm and went immediately down the tunnel afterward. So far this season, Brown has scored no goals and 2 assists for 2 points to go along with 0 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 56.7 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 6.9.

Over his 2 year NHL career, Brown has played for the Ottawa Senators. He has 0 goals and 3 assists for 3 career points in 10 career games. He was originally drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the 1st round, 11 overall in the 2016 NHL draft.

What This Means for the Future

With both Brown and Sabourin out, for the time being, the Sens will be relatively ok. Both players have less than 20 games of NHL experience. This will be a good test of will for these young players to see if they have the grit to get through the injuries and come out on the other side ready to play and continue to learn and grow for the Sens.

However, the return of Artem Anisimov will help cover up some of the losses here as the Sens continue to grow. More opportunities for younger players should be available.
