Last Word on Habs Pod: The State of the Montreal Canadiens Defence
On this week’s episode, the guys discuss Johannes’ big award! After years of toiling away in the central Vermont Ice Age recreational hockey league, Jo was awarded the John Connell award. While rumors exist of the number of bribes he had to pay out, Johannes is a deserving winner of an award that celebrates the spirit of the group and played with grace and tenacity. So, Johannes now has a new centerpiece for his dining room table… and a new embroidered Bauer jacket to boot. A couple of life long goals completed.
On to the Habs, who had an even week, losing to the Sharks but besting the Leafs. For as depressing the loss was to San Jose, the thrashing the Habs gave the Leafs more than made up for it. Still, there were some concerning things about the Habs overall play through 10 games. The defensive coverage has been an eyesore. They have also surrendered eight goals in the last minute of a period so far this season. These are not good trends.
All this and winners and losers, will the Habs be able to fix their issue before it’s too late, can Marc Bergevin pull off a major trade during the season, and much much more.
