The New York Islanders have announced that they have placed center Leo Komarov on injured reserve with an unspecified injury, with the team Twitter simply noting that he was sick. This move is retroactive to October 17th and there is no timetable for his return.

Leo Komarov Out With Undisclosed Injury
Komarov did not play in the Islander’s most recent game on Saturday vs the Columbus Blue Jackets. He had been considered day-to-day before being played on IR today.
So far this season, Komarov has three assists to go along with two minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 38.3 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -9.8.
Over his seven-year NHL career, Komarov has played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders. He has 58 goals and 93 assists for 151 career points in 416 career games. He was originally drafted by the Maple Leafs in the sixth round, 180th overall in the 2006 NHL Draft.
What This Means for the Future
With Komarov being placed on IR the Islanders have activated Casey Cizikas off of IR. Cizikas missed the last five games with a lower-body injury. The Toronto, Ontario native had an assist in three games before being placed on IR. Having Cizikas back in the line-up will give the Islanders a huge boost offensively. Cizikas had a break out year last season putting up 20 goals and 13 assists for 43 points in 73 games.
Now that Cizikas is back in the line-up expect him to slot in on the third line for the Islanders as Cole Bardreau will move down to the fourth line. The Islanders who have won their previous four games will look to continue the streak tonight as they host the Arizona Coyotes.
