The injury bug continues to pile up for the Minnesota Wild as the team placed Kevin Fiala on IR with a lower-body injury.
To make room for Kahkonen, #mnwild placed Kevin Fiala on IR
That means Fiala must miss the next 2 games vs his former Preds & #lakings
Last night, I got impression Dubnyk was very sore. Not considered serious, but he landed hard, so who knows how he felt waking up today

Kevin Fiala On IR, Kaapo Kahkonen Recalled
The Wild considered Fiala day-to-day as he was dealing with a lower-body injury. However, having already missed the game against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night, he will miss two more games. That means he will miss the games against the Nashville Predators and Los Angeles Kings. It has been a disappointing start to the season for Fiala. Through seven games, he recorded one assist posting a minus -4 rating.
With Fiala on IR, the Wild recalled goalie Kaapo Kahkonen to backup Alex Stalock. Earlier in the day, the Wild announced that Devan Dubnyk will miss Thursday’s game and is considered day-to-day with an undisclosed injury after landing hard in the team’s victory over the Oilers on Tuesday night. In four games with the Iowa Wild, Kahkonen has a 2.95 goals-against average and .886 save percentage and is tied for first in wins.
What Lies Ahead
The Wild’s next moves will all depend on the health of Jordan Greenway. Greenway left last night’s game with an upper-body injury. If Greenway is forced to miss time along with Fiala the Wild may have to promote another player from the minors before Thursday’s game in Nashville. The Wild will be getting some good news for once as forward Mats Zuccarello returned to the lineup after being activated from IR.
