Joel Armia

Montreal Canadiens Joel Armia Day-to-Day

The Montreal Canadiens forward Joel Armia is day-to-day after sustaining an injury. He has missed a pair of games and still is not on the ice for practice today. The timetable of his return is unclear. However, it doesn’t appear to be long-term.

Joel Armia Out

It has been listed as a lower-body injury and the forward has missed two games because of it. He missed Saturday afternoons game against the St. Louis Blues as well as Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Wild.

Armia is a solid depth piece acquired from the Winnipeg Jets when the Habs took on Steve Mason and his contract. Armia has lit it up to start this year scoring 4 goals and adding 1 assist for 5 points in just 7 games. His career-high in points came in 2017-18 with the Jets when he had 29 in 79 games. Armia has played 244 NHL games and has totalled 43 goals and 43 assists for 86 points in those games.

He is known as a very useful bottom-six forward who doesn’t score a lot but constantly keeps the puck out of his own net when he is on the ice.

Going Forward

With Joel Armia out, the Habs look to Nick Cousins to slot in the lineup and play some minutes. The Habs have a really balanced lineup with skilled players on each line. Currently, Nick Suzuki is on the 4th line with Cousins and Nate Thompson.

The Habs had success last season by spreading out the offence and doing it by committee. They really don’t have one big star so they are showing that a bunch of very good players can do the trick too. So far, the Habs are in 4th in the Atlantic Division with a 4-3-2 record. With the hot start Joel Armia got off to there is no doubt Montreal will want him back sooner than later.
