Drafted in the third round of the 2011 NHL entry draft, the Florida Panthers selected Vincent Trocheck 64th overall. Since then, he has become arguably one of the NHL’s top second-line centres in the game. So far, Trocheck has played a total of 368 NHL games recording 248 points with one All-Star Game appearance in 2017. In those games, Trocheck has scored 102 goals with 146 assists all for the Panthers. Trocheck was named one of the assistant captains in the 2017-18 season and has served the role ever since. Trocheck also participated in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey for Team North America where he finished with a goal and assist through three games.
Unfortunately, due to injuries, Trocheck has only been able to play two full regular seasons, the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. Last season, after an injury in a game against the Ottawa Senators, that he was expected to be out for a minimum of 40 games, thankfully shortened to only 27 games. Still a huge hit to Trocheck and the team.
Before the injury Trocheck had 14 points through 18 games. Vinny played in just 55 games recording a not so impressive 10 goals and 24 assists for 34 points. The year before that Trocheck had just come off a career-high 75 points. Recording 31 goals and 44 assists. To say Trocheck not only struggled coming back from the injury physically but mentally his confidence was affected also. Coming into this season with a loaded team Trocheck is ready to bounce back.
The Vincent Trocheck Bounce Back
Vincent Trocheck is ready for the next step with the Florida Panthers this season. After suffering from re-occurring ankle issues in the past, Trocheck hasn’t truly been able to root himself in as a consistent scoring threat. This season the Panthers mean business and so does Vincent Trocheck.
The young 2019-20 season has just begun, and Trocheck has started well. A goal and an assist each in their opening game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. During that first game of the 2019-20 season, Trocheck started with an assist to Mike Hoffman to tie the game at one. Later, in the third, Trocheck finished off a shorthanded breakaway scoring top shelf on reigning Vezina Trophy winner Andrei Vasilevskiy.
What to Expect Next
So far, Vincent Trocheck has three points through fohr games in the 2019-20 season. We hope he has learned to keep his frustrations and emotions in check this season to avoid taking penalties and causing his team to be a man short. With his confidence back, giving him his fearlessness, and his injury healed, giving him back his speed, the expectation is to see Vinny Trocheck as an offensive threat once again.
Trocheck is back this season and healthier than ever; ready to prove that he can get the job done. Trocheck’s last full season in the NHL was his best yet totaling 75 points while breaking the 30-goal mark. With all the pieces put back together this off-season, Trocheck finds himself in a great spot to build off previous point productions and solidifying himself as a top-six forward. He is a phenomenal forward who isn’t afraid to get down and dirty. A healthy Vincent Trocheck can and will be the difference-maker for the Panthers when things get tough.
