Dallas Stars Roman Polak Stretchered Off, Among Other Injuries

The Dallas Stars announced that winger Blake Comeau (lower-body injury), center Jason Dickinson (upper-body injury), and defencemen Roman Polak will all not return to tonight’s game.

Roman Polak Stretchered Off

Polak left the game on a stretcher after falling awkwardly into the boards. Comeau took a puck to the face in the first period and didn’t return to the game. As of now, there is no indication on how Dickinson got hurt but he wasn’t on the Stars bench to start the second period.

Over his 13-year NHL career, Polak has played for the St.Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs, San Jose Sharks, and Dallas Stars. He has 26 goals and 110 assists for 136 career points in 765 career games. He was originally drafted by the Blues in the sixth round, 180th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Comeau has played for six different teams over his 13-year career. He has 128 goals and 175 assists for 303 career points in 797 career games. He was originally drafted by the New York Islanders in the second round, 47th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Dickinson has spent his entire four-year career with the Stars. He has 9 goals and 18 assists for 27 career points in 105 career games. Dickinson was originally drafted by the Stars 29th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

What This Means for the Future

This is bad news for the Stars as they lose three players to injuries on opening night. Out of the three injuries, Polak’s is the most serious at this time. As for the other two it’s expected that more info on their injuries will be provided after the game.

If these guys are forced to miss time with these injuries expect Taylor Fedun to draw into the line up. The Stars may also need to make a few callups depending on the severity of the injuries. Rhett Gardner, Jason Robertson as well as Nick Caamano are names to look out for here. All three looked very good at camp and should be the first to get a call up to the big club.
