Brandon Carlo Signs New Deal With Boston Bruins

Brandon Carlo was selected as a 37th overall player in the 2015 NHL Draft. Just a year later he has made it to the Bruins lineup. In the 2016-2017 season, Carlo played in all 82 regular-season games. In the last game of the regular season, against the Washington Capitals, Carlo suffered a concussion and was held out of the playoffs. During the following season, the American defenceman played in 76 games before injuring his knee a week before the playoffs started.

Carlo has become quite a story after missing the playoffs in his first two seasons. This past year, Carlo missed 10 games with injuries, but this time was completely ready for the post-season. He played in all 24 games playoff games last season, scoring big two goals in the Stanley Cup Final.

A Priority Signing for Boston

Brandon Carlo has worked himself out to be one of the most important defencemen for the Bruins. In the playoffs, Carlo shined, recording roughly 21 minutes of ice time per game. In his 230 games in the NHL, Carlo has collected eight goals and 32 points.

That’s the best indication that he is not there for the Bruins in terms of offensive production. But Boston saw his signing as a priority for them. The 22-year-old Colorado native had a 52.9% corsi at even strength last season. He uses his strong skating to escape from tough positions in the defencive zone and is not afraid of using his body presence around. Moving forward, Carlo’s role with Boston will surely skyrocket despite the low scoring.
