Torey Krug Injured For Boston After Hit From Leafs Jake Muzzin

The Boston Bruins came out to play very physically against the Maple Leafs in Game 2. However, it was the Bruins who lost two players because of the injuries. Torey Krug suffered a hard drill to the boards at the midway point of the second period on Saturday. Toronto´s Jake Muzzin did not receive a penalty for that hit. Krug went immediately down the tunnel as he was helped off the ice.

The 28-year-old defenceman logged just 10:03 minutes of ice-time. He never returned back to the game. Head coach Bruce Cassidy declined to confirm, whether Krug´s injury is a concussion. Cassidy would go on to update Krug’s status Saturday, saying he is day-to-day but will travel with the team.

Boston Bruins Defence In Trouble

Torey Krug has been a fundamental player for the Bruins throughout the whole season. The Michigan native has taken part in 64 games in the regular season recording six goals and 47 assists for 53 points. He has tallied an assist in both games of the first-round series versus Toronto. In 40 career playoff games, Krug has had 30 points including nine goals. The Bruins are already without injured defencemen John Moore and Kevan Miller.

In addition to that, Connor Clifton, playing in his rookie season, had logged 13:01 of time on the ice before leaving the game in the third period. The Bruins had to finish the night with just four defencemen. Bruins Head coach Bruce Cassidy would also list Clifton as day to day, but he indicated that Steven Kampfer is ready to play if necessary. Kampfer was a healthy scratch in both games played at TD Garden during the series versus the Leafs.

On the other side, the Bruins might get blueliner John Moore back from his upper-body injury. Moore has been skating in the red non-contact jersey in practice for the past couple of days. He has been out for three weeks after suffering an injury in a game versus the Tampa Bay Lightning. Kevan Miller has not practiced yet with the Bruins and is probably out for the rest of the series.
