Dallas Stars Ben Bishop Left Game With Another Lower-Body Injury

Ben Bishop

The Dallas Stars have won another important road game, but lost goaltender Ben Bishop yet again due to a lower-body injury. Bishop started the game on Wednesday night in Calgary against the Flames, but had to leave the contest with 6:38 to go in the second period. He appeared to suffer yet another lower-body injury in a save shortly before he left the game.

Dallas Stars Lose Ben Bishop Due To Injury Again

The Stars netminder has already suffered at least two other separate lower-body injuries during the current season. After setting the new franchise record for the most consecutive minutes without allowing the goal by one goaltender, he left the game on March 14 in Minnesota against the Wild. Bishop had to miss another two games before making his return. Since his return, he has recorded two wins in three starts prior to the game in Calgary.

Versus the Western Conference-leading Flames, the 32-year-old veteran goalkeeper made 20 saves before leaving the game. He was replaced by backup goalie Anton Khudobin, who finished the night making 15 saves on 16 shots on goal. The Stars won another huge game, 2-1. Now with 86 points, the Stars are five points clear of the ninth place in the West currently occupied by the Arizona Coyotes.

Ben Bishop Suffers Yet Another Injury

Bishop was also out for at least one week in November, was placed on the injured reserve list at the beginning of February prior to his injury two weeks ago. Even though the injury-plagued season for the veteran goaltender, Bishop is having a career year.

He has 2.03 goals against average per game and .933 save percentage in 45 games played this season. In his 10th NHL season with his fifth different team, those are Bishop’s best numbers. The Stars certainly hope that they won’t miss their starting netminder for a long time. Dallas also hopes that the injuries for him won’t carry over into the playoffs. The Stars presently sit on the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
