Going into Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Capitals, Evgeni Malkin was sitting on 998 career NHL points. He notched two assists to get to 1,000 career NHL points, becoming only the fifth Russian born player to do so. The other four Russian players that have done it are Alex Ovechkin, Alexei Kovalev, Sergei Fedorov, and Alexander Mogilny. Overall, Malkin is the 88th player in NHL history to record 1,000 career NHL points. His 1,00th career point came from an assist on Phil Kessel‘s goal.

Evgeni Malkin’s 1,000th career point was an assist on a Phil Kessel goal.
Of all the players that Geno has earned points with, Phil ranks #2 on that list, factoring into 151 of Malkin’s 1,000 points.

Of Malkin’s 1,000 points, 391 of them have been goals and 609 of them have been assists. He got to 1,000 points in 848 games, which means he’s averaged 1.17 points per game throughout his career. That also comes with a lot of injuries he’s suffered throughout his career, including blowing his knee out during the 2010-2011 season where he missed a ton of games.
Some of his finest handiwork throughout his career have been some impressive dekes he’s made to score. One of his best came against the Tampa Bay Lightning when he went through the entire team.
This came in his comeback season after knee surgery when he notched 50 goals for the only time in his career and 100 points for the second time in his career.
That wasn’t the first time he has scored a highlight reel goal against the Lightning.
Malkin has also used the spin-o-rama play a few times as well. His most recent came not too long ago against the New York Rangers.
Evgeni Malkin has been nothing more than sensational in his time with the Penguins and there will be many more points coming throughout his career.
