Minnesota Wild Trade Matt Hendricks to the Winnipeg Jets
The Minnesota Wild completed a trade Monday with the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets acquire center Matt Hendricks in exchange for a 2019 seventh-round draft pick.

In Hendricks, the Jets get a veteran center who also has 39 games of Stanley Cup Playoff experience. This season he has just two assists, adding 19 minutes in penalties in 22 games played. His possession numbers are 48.9 percent Corsi-For and a relative Corsi of -0.9. Those totals are worse compared to last season, where he scored five goals and eight assists for 13 points. Over his 11-year NHL career, Hendricks has played for the Edmonton Oilers, Washington Capitals, Colorado Avalanche, Nashville Predators, Winnipeg Jets, and Minnesota Wild. In that time, he has 54 goals and 61 assists for 115 career points in 603 career games. He was originally drafted in the fifth round, 131st overall of the 2000 NHL draft by the Predators.
What This Means for the Future
Hendricks joins the Jets for the second time in his career after playing for the team last season. So far this season Hendricks have been battling injuries which have forced him to miss time. During his time in Minnesota, Hendricks has played on the wing but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he’s moved back to centre while in Winnipeg. He played in five games during the Jets Stanley Cup Playoff run last year. Expect Hendricks to be in the line-up tomorrow night when he faces his former team.
With Minnesota acquiring the Jets seventh-round pick they now have two picks in the seventh round in the upcoming draft.
