Devils Trade Keith Kinkaid to Blue Jackets
The New Jersey Devils completed a trade Monday with the Jackets. The Jackets acquired goaltender Keith Kinkaid in exchange for a 5th round selection in the NHL Entry Draft. This is just another move in what has been a busy week for the Jackets.

Kinkaid has spent his entire six-year NHL career with the New Jersey Devils. This season Kinkaid is 15-18-6 with a 3.36 goals-against average, .891 save percentage and 3 shutouts. In Kinkaid, the Jackets get a solid goaltender who would be an asset for a team looking for help in net. Last season Kinkaid put the Devils on his back putting up a 26-10 record.
He has put up a 64-55-17 career record in 151 career appearances with 132 career starts. He also has a 2.90 goals against average, 0.906 save percentage and 7 shutouts.
What This Means for the Future
There is no question that the Devils have had their fair share of problems in the crease this year. The Devils have looked to find a solid goaltender in MacKenzie Blackwood. Blackwood was called up earlier in the year when Cory Schneider went down earlier this year. With Schneider back in the line-up, the Devils had the problem of having three goalies which forced Kinkaid out.
Despite his subpar numbers this season Kinkaid has a career-high in shutouts. Expect Kinkaid so be an essential part of his new team as a depth role.
For Columbus, could this signal a possible Sergei Bobrovsky trade? Obviously, nothing is imminent. However, the Jackets now have Bobrovsky, Kinkaid and Joonas Korpisalo on the active NHL roster. This move could just be for some depth, however, there may also be more moves coming.
