New Jersey Devils Eddie Lack Out for the Season

The New Jersey Devils announced that goaltender Eddie Lack will miss the rest of the season after undergoing labrum surgery.

Eddie Lack Out for the Season

This season, Lack played in six games, five of those being starts in the AHL for the Binghamton Devils. He put up a 2-3-0 record with a 4.10 goals-against average and .863 save percentage. He has seen action in only four NHL games since joining the Devils last season. Lack is 1-2 with a 3.08 GAA in those four games

Over his five-year NHL career, Lack has spent time with the Vancouver Canucks, Carolina Hurricanes, Calgary Flames, and New Jersey Devils. He has put up a 56-55-18 career record in 144 career appearances with 126 career starts. He also has a 2.62 goals against average, .909 save percentage, and 9 shutouts. Lack has also recorded two career assists in his career.

What This Means for the Devils

Lack signed a two-way deal with the Devils back in June. Lack who started the season with the Devils while Cory Schneider was on IR. He didn’t appear in any games though will with New Jersey. In the AHL he has been struggling which has given MacKenzie Blackwood a chance to shine with the Devils. The Binghamton Devils will now go with a goalie tandem of Cam Johnson and Evan Cormier. Of those two Johnson is the only one who has a contract with the Devils.

Goaltending has been an issue for the Devils this season as Schneider has continued to struggle and is still winless this season. Keith Kinkaid, who is currently out, has a 12-10-6 record this season in 29 games and 27 of those being starts. Even with Blackwood playing solid in his first few NHL games, expect the Devils to be on the lookout for another goaltender.
