Cory Schneider Out Once Again for the Devils
Schneider has been battling the injury over the past few games but it flared up during Friday’s 5-4 win over the Vegas Golden Knights. Devils Coach John Hynes said he would miss at least the next three games.
This season, Schneider has played in 9 games with seven starts for the Devils. He has a 0-5-1 record with a 4.66 goals against average and 8.52 save percentage.
Over his 11-year NHL career, Schneider has played for the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks. He has put up a 161-145-53 career record in 379 career appearances with 361 career starts. He also has a 2.40 goals against average, .919 save percentage, and 24 shutouts. Schneider was originally drafted 26th overall in the 2004 NHL draft by the Vancouver Canucks.
What This Means for the Future
Schneider has yet to find the win column this year for the Devils since returning from injury. He has been pulled in three of his seven starts this season. This injury could be the reason Schneider has played so poorly this season. With Schneiders numbers, this season the Devils will be cautious about this injury and give Schneider to recover. MacKenzie Blackwood has been called up to serve as Keith Kinkaid‘s back-up.
Blackwood is 6-7 with a 2.69 goals against and .911 save percentage in 15 games this season with Binghamton. This will be Blackwood’s first stint with the team. He split time last season between Adirondack(ECHL) and Binghamton.
Eddie Lack who started the season as Kinkaid’s backup will serve as the starter in Binghamton. Lack didn’t appear in any games for the Devils while he was up with the team earlier this season.
