The Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Twitter that they have signed defenseman Calle Rosen to a two-year contract extension. It has an annual average value of $750,000. This deal will cover the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons. Rosen, 24, has been with the Leafs organization for two years now.

Calle Rosen Staying In Toronto
Rosen came over from Sweden last year along with fellow Swede Andreas Borgman. Rosen had a short stint in the NHL. He played 4 games and had one assist and four penalty minutes in those games. He has been a key part of the Marlies this season. Putting up 2 goals and 17 assists for 19 points in just 24 games.
Last year, he put up 22 points in 62 games for the Marlies. His offensive side of the game has seen huge growth in just this year. Rosen was undrafted and brought over by the Leafs from Sweden in the summer of 2017. He is still young and is a cheap and possible option for the Leafs going forward. The Leafs will be getting close to the cap ceiling for the years to come, someone like Calle Rosen can be a great asset. A cheap and serviceable third pair defenseman may be what the Leafs see going forward. At the very least, Rosen will be a big part on the Marlies.
Rosen has played 2 years in the SHL and 3 years in the Swedish Division One League before coming to North America. He was a smart, cheap and low-risk signing for the Leafs. Rosen is currently on the final year of an ELC deal that sees him get paid $925,000. The Leafs clearly value Rosen and hope he can make an impact at some level in their system for future years to come.
