Mantha Placed on Injured Reserve

Forward Anthony Mantha also suffered a hand injury. He was hurt when he fought Colorado Avalanche defenseman Patrik Nemeth in Sunday’s game. Earlier, Nemeth had laid a hit on Red Wings centre Dylan Larkin.

“He was sticking up for Larkin in that case, who got his head run against the boards … I know this, he’d do it again. And I’m good with him doing it again. I want him to do it again. We want to make sure we’re sticking up for each other,” head coach Jeff Blashill told the team’s website.

Mantha has nine goals and five assists for 14 points in 27 games this season. He has also added 17 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers have been stellar, with a 55.8 percent Corsi-For, and a +12.2 relative Corsi. Last season, Mantha scored 24 goals and 48 points in 80 games.
