Ben Bishop Injured
There is no indication on how Bishop suffered the injury but he was replaced by Anton Khudobin to start the third period in Monday’s 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers. Bishop stopped 10 of the 11 shots he faced in the first two periods.
Thus far Bishop is 8-5-1 in 15 starts this season. He has a 2.33 goals-against average, .923 save percentage, and two shutouts. In addition to those numbers, he also added one assist.
Over his 10-year NHL career, Bishop has played for St.Louis Blues, Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning, L.A. Kings, and Dallas Stars. He has put up a 182-102-31 career record in 338 career appearances with 323 career starts. He also has a 2.35 goals-against average, .919 save percentage, and 26 shutouts. Bishop has a career 21-13 record in 36 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, with a 2.09 goals-against average, .927 save percentage, and five shutouts.
What This Means for the Future
The Stars have gotten off to 11-8-2 start and currently sit in fifth place in the Central Division. Bishop who has played well in his first 15 games is looking to rebound after missing 25 games last season with injuries. Khudobin has played well in the six games for the Stars which could give Bishop a couple extra days to get healthy. Bishop was acquired by Dallas on May 9th, 2017 in a trade with the L.A Kings in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. He is 34-22-6 since being acquired by the Stars.
The Stars play four games in the next seven days. Khudobin will likely pick up the majority of the starts for the Stars while Bishop is out. Khudobin is 3-3-1 this year in seven appearances. He has a 2.37 goals-against average and .925 save percentage. Expect the Stars to call-up goaltender Landon Bow to back-up Khudobin. Bow is the starter for the AHL club
