Boston Bruins Invite Mark Fayne to Training Camp

The Boston Bruins have announced that they have invited veteran defencemen Mark Fayne to training camp. Fayne will remain in North America with the Bruins split-squad while half the roster goes to China to play exhibition games against the Calgary Flames.

Veteran Defenceman Mark Fayne Invited to Boston Bruins Training Camp on Tryout Contract

Over his seven-year NHL career, Fayne has played for the Edmonton Oilers and New Jersey Devils. He has scored 17 goals along with 48 assists for 65 career points in 389 career NHL games. His best season was during the 2011-12 season where he scored four goals and 13 assists for 17 points in 82 games for the Devils. He has three career assists in 24 career Stanley Cup Playoff games. Fayne was originally drafted in the fifth round,155th overall in the 2005 NHL Draft by the Devils.

Fayne last played in the NHL during the 2016-17 season with the Oilers. During that season he spent the majority of the year in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors. In 39 games with the Condors, he scored three goals and 14 assists for 17 points. He also added 16 minutes in penalties. He ended up appearing in four games for the Oilers and recorded two assists in that span.

What This Means for the Fayne’s Future

The 31-year-old right-handed defencemen will get another crack to play in the NHL. Fayne will bring experience and another right-handed shot to the Bruins defensive core. He will look to make an impression with the Bruins and hopefully earn himself a contract with the Bruins for the upcoming season.

The Bruins also announced that defensemen Zdeno Chara and Torey Krug will not head to China to take on the Flames.
