Melinda Karlsson Files Restraining Order
Reports are coming out saying that Monika Caryk was verbally harassing the Karlsson’s after the tragic loss of their son this year. According to Melinda, there have been over 1,000 negative social media posts about the situation. Melinda also mentioned that Monika had made statements regarding her husband saying that someone has brought Karlsson into this by saying “someone should take out his legs to end his career”. There have also been two twitter accounts that have been cyber-bullying about the death of her child. Both of those accounts have been deactivated.
Mike Hoffman has responded to these allegations by saying “There’s really nothing for me to say” and in a subsequent comment said the two of them had nothing to do with the situation. Hoffman was also quoted saying that they have offered to co-operate to find out who is behind these allegations.
Erik Karlsson hasn’t commented on the situation. Karlsson blasted an online troll who accused his wife of popping painkillers during her pregnancy.
What This Means for Hoffman and the Sens
Throughout the off-season, there have been a lot of rumours swirling around Ottawa trading Mike Hoffman and Erik Karlsson. Karlsson has been the top defencemen in Ottawa and is the face of the Ottawa franchise. Karlsson has a year left on his seven-year $45 million dollar contract.
Hoffman has been a 20-goal scorer the last four years in Ottawa, He’s on the top line as well as the top powerplay unit. Eight of Hoffman’s 22 goals last year came with the man advantage.
This situation makes trading both Hoffman and Karlsson a lot more complicated for the Senators.
