Vegas Golden Knights One Win Away From Stanley Cup Finals

The Vegas Golden Knights win game four 3-2 over the Winnipeg Jets. They now lead the series three games to one. After an unparalleled expansion season, the Golden Knights now find themselves in position in which a single win finds them playing for the Stanley Cup. It is a story that if a Hollywood writer were to pitch it would see them laughed out of the room. Yet, here they are one win away from the Stanley Cup Finals.

Vegas Gets Off to a Quick Start

Once again the Golden Knights get off to a quick start as William Karlsson scored at the 2: 25-minute mark in the game. It follows a strategy that the team seems to have deployed previously in this series. In game three Jon Marchessault scored: 35 seconds into the game. Scoring early has been the key to their success. The team also responds well to going down during games and clawing their way back. In this game, the Golden Knights also responded quickly to the Jets goal to tie the game by re-taking the lead 43 seconds later.

Jets Have A Strong Third But Vegas Turns The Table

The Winnipeg Jets for the second straight game dominated most of the third period. They did it b out-shooting Vegas 12-7 in the third period. The best moment came as they scored on a shot where the puck got stuck in the net and had to be reviewed. This was because cause no-one was sure at the moment if it went in. It Turns out it did and they were awarded the goal.

The game was looking like it was going into over-time until Reilly Smith scored on a turnover from Dustin Byfuglien. That goal proved to be the game-winner for Vegas as they held on for the last seven minutes to seal the victory. Once again Marc-Andre Fleury stood on his head in net for the Golden Knights. He made 35 saves on 37 shots tonight to get the win.

History is on the Golden Knight’s Side

The Vegas Golden Knights have won three straight games over the Winnipeg Jets after losing game one. The Jets had only lost three straight games once during the regular season. The Vegas Golden Knights look to become the first expansion team to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals in their inaugural season. For the Jets, they must deal with the fact that only one NHL team has come back from down three one in the conference finals. The odds are stacked against an amazing turnaround.

The Knights will look to clinch the series Sunday afternoon in Winnipeg.
