Mikaël Lalancette‏ from TVA Sports reports that the Quebec Remparts have called a press conference for tomorrow. The team is expected announced that Patrick Roy will return as general manager and head coach. Roy remains part owner of the team. He was a part of the Remparts management team from 2005 to 2013.

Quebec Remparts Bring back Patrick Roy

The Quebec Remparts are expected to bring back Patrick Roy as head coach and general manager. Philippe Boucher, who coached the Remparts for the last five years, recently resigned. Roy acted as coach and general manager of the Remparts from 2005 to 2013. He then left the team to take the position of vice-president and head coach of the Colorado Avalanche from 2013 to 2016. Roy won the Jack Adams trophy back in 2013. The Avalanche were 52-22-8 with 112 points and first in the Central Divison. They lost in seven games to the Minnesota Wild in the First Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, that would be their only playoff appearance under Roy, as they struggled the next two years. He left the team for personal reasons back during the off-season, just prior to the 2016-17.

He went 130-92-24 in his three years as head coach and vice president of the Colorado Avalanche. In eight years with the Remparts, he went 350-163-18.  The Remparts won the Memorial Cup in 2006.

During his 20-year NHL Career, Roy played for the Montreal Canadiens, and Colorado Avalanche. He is considered one of the greatest goalies of all-time. Roy is the only player in NHL history to win three Conn Smythe Trophies. Roy also won four Stanley Cups. He won 551 games during his career, which was the NHL record when he retired. It has since been passed by Martin Brodeur.
